Orange County California’s Transportation Corridor Agencies operate the largest network of toll roads in the state. In 2006, the agencies were searching for a new, more robust technology to replace the resistive touch screens in their toll booth terminals. Operators complained that these resistive screens were unreliable under heavy use. The problem was overuse on sensitive contact points. To handle over 100,000 touches per terminal each month, a more reliable solution was need – fast. VISSUMO’s parent company QSI Corporation installed force panels as replacements for the resistive touch screen. Millions of touches later, they are still going strong.
